Pigs Joint Technical Advisory Committee
The Joint Pig Industry Technical Advisory Committee provides coordinated advice and recommendations on the operation and development of pig farm assurance standards and operating procedures owned by Assured Food Standards (AFS) and Genesis Quality Assurance (GQA). The objective is to ensure that these equivalent standards are developed completely in parallel. Red Tractor Farm Assurance Pigs is a vital part of integrated whole chain assurance for the British pig industry.
The Joint TAC is a group of industry experts and representatives who meet at least twice a year. The group considers legislation, existing standards, development in best practice, market activity and industry requirements when making decisions about Red Tractor Farm Assurance Pigs standards.
The Joint TAC is appointed with qualified individuals experienced in certain areas of the pig industry, together with expertise in food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection issues. The varied expertise provided by the TAC ensures that the standards are practical and achievable whilst meeting the demands of consumers.
