Crops and Sugarbeet Board Members
The Red Tractor Assurance Crops & Sugar Beet Board is responsible for overseeing the management of the Scheme and its activities. The Board also functions as a technical committee and discusses standard setting for farm, storage and transport standards. The group considers legislation, existing standards, and developments in best practice, market activity and industry requirements when making decisions about Red Tractor Farm Assurance Crops & Sugar Beet Standards.
Members are appointed with the aim of providing expert cross-industry representation. The Red Tractor Assurance Crops & Sugar Beet Board includes five producers, including the Chairman. Food chain users include representatives of millers, maltsters, oilseed crushers, feed compounders, grain merchants, cereal foods manufacturers and sugar beet manufacturers. It also includes the environmental organisation, LEAF (Linking the Environment and Farm) and an independent consultant with expertise in crop protection representing non-industry interests.
Some members are nominees of leading Trade Associations (1), whilst other appointments are made on the merits of an individuals expertise and contribution to the industry (2).
